From First Call to Admission
Reaching out for addiction treatment can feel overwhelming, especially when you are not sure what the process looks like. At Focused Addiction Recovery, we are here to guide individuals and families through each step with clarity, structure, and support.
Focused Addiction Recovery is a substance use disorder treatment provider, with integrated mental health support built into care. Our programs are designed to help individuals stabilize, build recovery skills, and maintain long term progress through structured outpatient treatment.
This page walks you through what to expect from your first call through intake, admission, and your first days in treatment.
Step 1: Your First Call
The process begins with a confidential phone call or inquiry. You will speak with a member of our admissions team who will take time to understand your situation and answer any immediate questions.
During this call, we will discuss:
- Current substance use and concerns
- Mental health symptoms if present
- Previous treatment history
- Urgency of care needs
- Insurance or payment options
This is not a commitment to treatment. It is a conversation designed to help determine next steps and provide guidance.
Step 2: Insurance and Payment Review
After the initial conversation, our team will review insurance coverage, including Medicaid and commercial plans when applicable.
You may be asked to provide:
- Insurance information
- Basic personal details
- Medical or treatment history if available
Our goal is to help you understand what services are covered and what options are available before moving forward.
Step 3: Clinical Assessment
The next step is a clinical intake assessment completed by a licensed professional. This assessment helps determine the appropriate level of care.
We evaluate:
- Substance use patterns
- Mental health needs
- Risk level and stability
- Medical considerations
- Living environment and support system
This allows us to place each individual in the level of care that best supports safety and long-term recovery.
Step 4: Understanding Your Level of Care
Focused Addiction Recovery offers structured outpatient treatment, not residential inpatient care.
Your recommended level of care may include:
Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
Structured, full day programming with clinical oversight and therapy.
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
Several days per week of structured therapy and support.
Outpatient Program (OP)
Lower intensity therapy focused on maintaining recovery and continued progress.
Each level is structured and monitored. This is not unstructured or “drop in” care.
Outpatient Treatment vs Sober Living
It is important to clearly understand the difference between outpatient treatment and sober living.
Outpatient Treatment (FAR Programs)
- Clinical care including therapy and treatment services
- Structured schedules and attendance requirements
- Individual and group therapy
- Ongoing monitoring and accountability
Sober Living (Separate but Coordinated)
- Structured living environment for additional support
- Rules, expectations, and supervision
- May include restrictions such as limited phone access, transportation limitations, and curfews
- Increased accountability outside of treatment hours
Some individuals may participate in both outpatient treatment and sober living, but they are not the same service.
Step 5: Admission and First Day
Once your level of care is determined, we will schedule your start date and walk you through expectations.
On your first day, you can expect:
- Completion of intake paperwork
- Orientation to program structure and expectations
- Meeting your clinical team
- Review of your treatment schedule
- Beginning therapy and group participation
Our goal is to make the transition into treatment clear, structured, and supportive.
Structure and Expectations in Treatment
Focused Addiction Recovery provides structured and monitored care. This is not a program where individuals come and go without accountability.
Expectations may include:
- Attendance requirements
- Participation in therapy sessions
- Compliance with treatment recommendations
- Ongoing communication with clinical staff
For individuals in sober living or higher levels of care, additional structure may include:
- Curfews
- Limited or monitored phone use
- Transportation restrictions
- Increased supervision and accountability
These expectations are in place to support safety, stability, and long-term recovery.
What Happens After You Start
Once admitted, individuals begin participating in their treatment program, which may include:
- Individual therapy
- Group counseling
- Relapse prevention planning
- Mental health support
- Peer support and accountability
Treatment plans are individualized and adjusted as progress is made.
